Biography
Gawie is a highly respected corporate and commercial lawyer with extensive experience in negotiating mergers and acquisitions, and in reviewing and drafting the resultant agreements. Management buy-outs, private equity and BBBEE transactions all form part of his corporate and commercial expertise.
He has also been internationally accredited through CEDR (Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution), as a commercial mediator.
Gawie started his career in 1999 and qualified as an attorney in 2001. In 2003 he joined a niche corporate finance house, leaving there in 2007 to start his own corporate and commercial advisory business. In 2011, he co-founded a boutique mining and commercial law firm, which he left in 2018 to pursue a range of private commercial interests.
Gawie holds B.A. and LL.B. degrees (University of Stellenbosch) and an LL.M. degree in commercial law (University of South Africa).
