Biography
Jonathan is an established commercial litigation and dispute resolution specialist in one of the most successful litigation departments in South Africa, and has been involved in several high profile and complex matters during his career to date.
Knowing that strategic and effective litigation and dispute resolution is critical in finding the best and most efficient resolution, Jonathan uses his extensive experience and skill to determine the best outcome for each client so as to act in their best interests.
His expertise lies in general civil and commercial litigation, arbitrations, insolvency, construction disputes, landlord and tenant disputes, corporate disputes, administrative law, outdoor advertising, and defamation.
Jonathan has also been involved in disputes around tender awards by organs of state such as PRASA, Eskom and various municipalities.
He also advises on debt recovery (including foreclosure on mortgage bonds registered over residential properties), liquidations and sequestrations, claims for and against building contractors (including claims based JBCC contracts), claims for and against principal agents, architects etc. claims for and against landlords based on commercial property leases, reviews of administrative decisions made by organs of state including reviews of tender awards, litigation relating to billboards and outdoor advertising, disputes between shareholders and directors in companies which are “deadlocked” or where there has been fraud by one of the directors/shareholders and litigation relating to online trading platforms.
Jonathan obtained his BA and LLB degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand.
